Position Overview & Specifications

An opportunity has arisen for candidates to join the BSc Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship Programme.

The successful applicants will step onto the Level 6 Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) , with the University of Hull. To be considered for the apprenticeship, applicants must have the required University UCAS credits (112). Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship the applicant can apply for entry to the NMC Nursing & Midwifery Register for Registered Nurses. They will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of the Nurse within the service and through completion of the training programme which includes working in care settings and delivery of person-centred care

The following are examples of the duties the trainee may undertake. Training and support will be provided;
  • Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence
  • Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS Values
  • Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual
  • Carry out specific delegated clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or other registered care professionals dependent on setting
  • Work with a Practice Assessor or Practice Supervisor to take responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace, while on placements and through attending the RNDA Programme
  • Provide feedback to assist in the evaluation of the RNDA programme
  • Develop by the end of the RNDA Programme the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care independently in line with the individual’s defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice of the Registered Nurse role, accessing clinical and care advice when needed
HUTH has two main hospital sites: Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital with an annual budget of approximately £500 million. The Trust employs around 11,000 staff and serves an extended population of 1.25 million, delivering a number of outpatient services from locations across the area.

The Trust’s secondary care service portfolio is comprehensive, covering the major medical and surgical specialties, routine and specialist diagnostic services and other clinical support services. These services are provided primarily to a catchment population of approximately 600,000 in the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire area.

The Trust provides specialist and tertiary services to a population of 1.25 million extending from Scarborough in North Yorkshire to Grimsby and Scunthorpe in North East and North Lincolnshire respectively.
