Financial Controller

Role Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly numbers
• Management of the transactional team and overseeing/reviewing sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll, cash postings and all general ledger entries
• Responsible for ensuring that the financial processes, systems and controls are operating effectively
• Management of all outsourced partners
• Responsible for all statutory reporting, compliance and management of external bodies (e.g. HMRC, local councils)
• Responsible for VAT, CIS, PAYE and all other taxes, including corporation tax
• Responsible for monthly payroll, including employee expenses and commission schemes
• Preparation of monthly management accounts and ad hoc reports
• Responsible for implementing new accounting / finance processes and systems/software as required
• Responsible for stringent cash management process and payment approvals

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum bachelors degree from an accredited university in maths, accounting, economics, or a related field
• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CIMA)
• Advanced skills in Excel and Xero
• Highly numeric/strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Highly motivated with real attention to detail
• Self-starter who desires ownership of a function and various business-critical processes
• Tenacious in approach, with no job too intimidating
• Comfortable with the unknown and making calculated assumptions
• Excellent communication skills to deliver and improve cross-functional understanding on finance function
• Ability to work as part of a team and under pressure in a fast-paced start-up environment
