Kitchen assistant- Keane Premier Group

Location- Ryan Meadows Care Home, Kingsgate, 149 Glasgow Road, East Kilbride, Glasgow, G74 4PA

£10.50 Per Hour

Permanent Position

Working 3/4 days from 7 on a shift (30-35 hours)

4 Weekly Pay

Our Kitchen Assistants are pivotal to the food operation within our care homes and the role provides vital support to our Chefs.

We’re on the lookout for individuals who want to make a difference by providing a kitchen environment that supports our Chefs to deliver for our residents with a balanced diet and a healthy interest in food.

Everything we do is about giving our residents a place to call home and we’re looking for Kitchen Assistants with commitment and dedication.

Food, diet, and nutrition is more important than ever, particularly with age. Some of the health issues associated with old age can change the dietary requirements of the elderly. Maintaining a balanced diet, tailored to our residents’ needs is vital to maintaining better mental and physical health. Our team of care staff continuously monitor, assess, and provide the nutritional needs of our residents along with information on any specific dietary, religious or cultural requirements.

Mealtimes are an extremely important part of the day within our care homes, and it is vital that our Kitchen Team are passionate about working together to deliver tasty, nutritious, and varied meals using fresh seasonal ingredients.

Passion, drive, and enthusiasm are key qualities for a Kitchen Assistant and for many this is the start of their culinary journey into becoming a Chef one day. However, if you’re happy in a support role that’s ok!

Main Responsibilities as a Kitchen Assistant-

· Support the Chefs during food prep and meal service

· Assist in the basic preparation of food when required

· Keep all areas of the kitchen clean, safe, and free from clutter

· Empty rubbish bins and maintain all refuse areas

· Use and store chemicals in line with COSHH requirements

· Wash crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils

· Deep clean kitchen and cooking appliances

· Receive, check, and store deliveries

· Play an important role in a close-knit team

· Have an opportunity to learn the role of a Chef

· Work as a team to deliver high quality meals

· One Team ethos to include all areas of the kitchen

· Take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety

· Adhere and maintain all Food Safety & Hygiene and Health & Safety Legislation

· Maintain accurate records
