Position Overview & Specifications

Support Time Recovery Worker (STR)

37.5 hours per week

South west Kent Community mental Health team . The service will provide ongoing care and support for those individuals requiring specialist intervention to address risks and psychological needs and works to support social care needs, which if these failed could potentially lead to relapse and readmission.
Patients are aged between 18 and 65.

The post holder will work within the community team based at Highlands House with close support from the Mental Health Practitioners and Senior STR worker. This role will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, with a commitment to delivering recovery focused, patient centred care to people with mental disorder/illness. The service is provided in the community, as well as working closely with inpatient teams in secure hospitals to ensure the safe and efficient discharge of patients to the community.

  • To work within the multi-disciplinary team to support people transitioning from inpatient unit into the community and maximise their independence. Specifically, in relation to their social support network and their integration into the community.
  • Communicate face to face with clients on a daily basis, some of which requires initial Intervention therapy.
  • To be able to work autonomously; as well as within a team, with the ability to organise and manage own time according to delegated workload.
  • To ensure effective communication with other agencies, stakeholders and professionals.
  • Successfully communicate and report concerns in a speedily manner to senior staff/ management.
  • To assist and encourage service users in attendance of their physical health as well as their mental health and related activities of daily living.
  • Attend team meetings and participate in reflective practice, clinical supervision and management supervision meetings as agreed by your supervisor.
  • To work in a flexible manner to meet the demands of the service and its users.
  • Adhere to Local Authority policy concerning safeguarding procedures.
  • Adhere to KMPT’s policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
