Position Overview & Specifications

Interviews to be held on 22nd or 23rd March.

Department of Management Science within Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) is seeking to appoint a Research Associate position, to work as part of the Information Systems Group.

You will work with Dr Mahsa Honary and project partners in the preparation and delivery of the Phoenix Takes Flight project. The research is funded by the AHRC, MRC and NERC as part of the “Scale up health inequality prevention and intervention strategies” scheme. Supported by the project team's collective complementary mix of prior experiences and expertise, the project aims to combine real-world experiences of Social Prescribing (SP) service delivery with stakeholders' perspectives; with the aim to evaluate and improve SP care infrastructure.

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in health research and/or experience working in the third or public sector. You should have experience in qualitative analysis and ideally have been involved in co-production activities. In addition, experience in process evaluation would be a definite advantage.

You will play a key role in this project and are expected to have a range of research skills including research ethics and governance applications, conducting literature reviews, and preparing papers for publication. As the researcher running this project you will lead co-production activities in the form of individual interviews, workshops, and community events.

You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work alongside a range of staff and other stakeholders (such as patient representatives, third sector organizations and NHS) from across the Lancashire. Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary research team and with service users and clinicians, would be an advantage. You must have PhD qualification in a relevant discipline including but not limited to: human computer interaction, health research, management science, psychology, or sociology.

LUMS provides an environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee, promoting a healthy work-life balance. We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education.

The position is available immediately and we are open to discussing flexible working arrangements including days/hours worked or flexible start and finish times. You will need to be able to travel to Preston (public or private transport) one day a week for the training sessions and to work with the different organisations involved in the delivery of this project.

You will join us on an indefinite contract however the roles remain contingent on external funding which at this time is due to come to an end on 11th February 2024.

For further information, please contact: Dr Mahsa Honary (m.honary1@lancaster.ac.uk)

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
