Finance Assistant

We’re looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to be apart of a high performing finance team supporting the UK business to meet challenging revenue, profit and cash generation growth targets through creation of a strong financial and internal control environment.

The Finance Assistant will be working closely with the UK Financial Controller, UK Finance business partner, the Group Finance team and the rest of the UK Finance team to maintain the highest standards of financial integrity, to deliver external reporting requirements and maximize working capital and cash flow.

Supporting the UK Financial Controller on the day to day running of the finance function and production of accurate monthly management accounts and forecasts. As well as developing robust governance processes and controls to manage risk and ensure a strong financial control environment is embedded.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the production and analysis of month end management accounts
• Assisting in the reconciliation of balance sheets, posting journals and dealing with accruals/prepayments
• Weekly Volume & WIP Reporting
• Weekly Flash reporting
• Support with completion of VAT Returns
• Maintain the fixed asset register
• Assisting in the quarterly forecasting process ensuring attention to detail is given to overheads costs
• Assist with supplier payments, customer receipts, cash management and bank reconciliation as part of the weekly cash flow forecast
• Support the Finance Business Partner with inter-company reconciliations, payments and resolve queries
• Credit Card management, reconciliations in excel and journal postings on a monthly basis
• Staff Expenses management and processing on a monthly basis, ensuring policy is adhered to.
• Supporting year end audit alongside the Finance Business Partner and Financial Controller.
• Support the UK Financial Controller with developing robust internal controls & month end/year end accounting processes
• Ad-hoc support/reporting/information required by the UK Finance Director

Skills & Knowledge

• All round IT skills
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel
• Logistics sector experience advantageous
• Knowledge of Cargowise (ERP) advantageous
• Working in an international business, with exposure to foreign currencies advantageous
• Good team player
• Excellent attention to detail
• Pro-active and Deadline-driven
• 2 years Finance experience
• Preferably AAT Studier / Qualified
