Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking for a Health Care support workerto join our experienced team within the Urgent Treatment Centre at Boston UTC

Located within a busy urgent treatment centre we see a wide range of minor injury and illness patients, same day and 111 booked appointments.

The post holder will actively take part in meeting the needs of patients in a well-established Urgent care setting under the direction of qualified Nurse and Allied health practitioners, working within the Trust's policies and procedures and the philosophy of the department.

The post holder will record patient information and carry out a range of clinical health duties including essential patient and clinical care ensuring that patients receive safe, individualised and effective care.

The post holder will be expected to perform a range of non-clinical duties as the service demand stipulates including reception, clerical, stock control and chaperone duties.

We are looking for the following attributes in our healthcare support workers:

Healthcare related Level 2 vocational qualification/equivalent or equivalent experience
Minimum GCSE level English and Maths or equivalent and,
Possesses a fundamental level of ICT skills.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services (LCHS) provide a responsive and professional countywide urgent and emergency care service to all residents and visitors. The service delivers person-centred care for self-limiting and long term condition in building bases, home addresses and remotely over the telephone or via a video consultation.

All staff within the service work, in collaboration with their patients, their carers and other statutory and voluntary organisations and agencies.

The service supports the Lincolnshire sustainability and transformation plan values of hospital avoidance and urgent care teams should reflect these values in their day to day practices.

The services are required to be flexible, responsive and timely in order to ensure accessibility and equity to all patients twenty-four hours a day.

The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and lifelong learning with the ability and willingness to undertake competency-based training both initially and as ongoing requirement for the post to meet service requirements.
  • Previous experience working and communicating with the public.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Clinical experience in a healthcare setting undertaking a range of clinical tasks supporting unwell children and adults.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of different people who may be in a crisis situation.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to use initiative and be aware of limitations.
  • Ability to switch between activities required by the service.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines with accuracy.
  • Ability to stay calm in the event of the unexpected and under pressure.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with distressing, emotional situations.
  • Ability to work unsocial hours including shift work and bank holidays.
