Position Overview & Specifications
We are looking to employee a full time Maintenance Person to join our dynamic team to cover four settings within a few miles of each other.
Reports to: Nursery Managers
Scope of Position
- To work as a member of the nursery team to ensure that all elements of the nursery property are well maintained and well presented, with health and safety as upmost priority.
Key Responsibilities
Gardens and Land
o Ensure that nursery sites are well maintained and attractive.
o Mowing and edging lawns and grassed areas
o Planting and maintaining borders and flowerbeds
o Trimming and pruning trees, shrubs, hedges etc.
o Gathering and removing litter and debris
o Provide proper upkeep of paths, driveways, carpark, fences etc.
Along with the childcare team, design, execute and develop children’s gardens and outdoor learning areas into inspiring, engaging and safe learning areas. For example;
o Design and create varying play surfaces in gardens
o Install play equipment
o Design and make play structures and storage
o Create new spaces such as allotments / forest school area etc.
Maintain building exteriors to a high standard
Buildings and Maintenance
o Perform minor buildings, plumbing, electrical, decorative and other repairs as necessary
o Implement preventative maintenance measures
o Prioritise job list, communicating with team to accomplish a shared vision.
Health and Safety
o Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery and grounds
o Prioritise job list with health and safety implications in mind and of upmost importance.
o Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
o Operate the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness when working indoors
Operational
o Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers.
o Work with the manager and inspectors during inspections by regulatory bodies and to assist in the implementation of any recommendations.
Teamwork & Communication
o Communicate well with other staff members and the management team.
o Be responsible for participating in all self-development activities including appraisals, supervisions etc.
General
o Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Management Team.
o Adhere to all nursery policies and procedures.
o Ensure the nursery’s policies on diversity and equal opportunities are adhered to
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: From £23,028.20 per year
