Location: Bristol or London 2-3days a week

You'll be joining as a Data Engineer, right at the beginning of our journey to modernise and transform our data management capability working alongside a multi-functional team, collaborating closely with the business, product owners and other engineering teams.

Our team is looking for an adaptable Software Engineer with a specific focus on Data Management and in particular Metadata Tooling. As a key member of our agile development community, you'll evolve our data capabilities whilst embracing the best industry standards and together we'll make it possible...

About the role:
The next phase of our transformation is moving more into streaming of data and cloud technologies underpinned through Data Management tools and techniques to meet data needs and our team will be right at the heart of that transformation.
  • You'll help shape our architecture by using the most appropriate modern toolsets available to LBG.
  • You'll work with our technology partners to ensure that what you build is sustainable and easily supported.
  • You'll need to show a real passion for developing new solutions and translating data into business insights - role-modelling Data Engineering as it should be in the new digital age.
So, what experience & skills do I need to apply?
We want to grow our team of data engineers, so we’d be looking for you to have 5+ years relevant working experience in some of the following areas:
  • Solid understanding of Metadata Tooling for Lineage, Dictionaries and Data Quality Management e.g. Collibra, Ataccama, Manta
  • Experience in design, develop, test and implementation of data management solutions and applications.
  • Strong Experience of Archiving processes and Information Lifecycle Management
  • Technical skills: Java, SQL and Python.
  • Working knowledge of data processing, data wrangling, and data analysis techniques
  • Solid understanding on any public cloud, preferably Google Cloud Platform (including components such as GCS buckets, BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow or equivalents) and open source toolset.
  • Experience with agile development methods & tooling
  • Experience of using modern software development toolsets including DevOps, Continuous Integration and Delivery
