An exciting opportunity exists to join our team at Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium, home to a variety of local saltwater fish and crustaceans.

The role of Aquarium Assistant is a seasonal position starting 24th March and finishing end of October 2023. Due to the nature of our business, all applicants must be available to work weekends, public/bank holidays and throughout the school holidays. The days required will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday with approximately 28 hours a week over the 4 days.

This is a multifaceted role where you’ll welcome visitors to the aquarium, take payments, answer questions from our visitors, provide informative and engaging talks and be involved in the care of our amazing creatures.

The main purpose of the role is to engage with our visitors and provide excellent customer service while they are visiting the aquarium, so we are looking for someone who excels in customer care, someone who is friendly, efficient and resilient as it can get extremely busy during the school holidays.

You will have excellent communication skills and be confident when dealing with members of the public. You will have a flexible and adaptable approach along with high attention to detail and demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills. You will be presentable, friendly and have a positive approach at all times.

Experience in a customer focused environment and an interest in marine life would be beneficial although not essential. More important is enthusiasm, being an exceptional communicator and a quick learner. Full training will be provided.
