About us

Every year, Manchester Airport connects over 28 million passengers with more than 200 destinations across the globe. As the third largest airport in the UK, Manchester is also in the top 20 airports in Europe. Part of the largest UK owned airport operator group, MAG, Manchester Airport supports over 19,000 jobs onsite and generates around £7.75bn each year for the region.

In 2021, Manchester Airport marked a major milestone in its 83-year history when we opened the iconic Terminal Two extension, the centrepiece of our £1bn transformation programme. We still have a few years of further construction work to go, but once completed Manchester Airport will be a facility which competes on a world stage!

We’re all here on a journey ourselves, striving every day to help make air travel smoother, more seamless, connecting more people and goods with the world. As a team, we recognise the importance of what we do, supporting one another along the way. Together, we are the Journey Makers.

The role

The Operational Readiness Activation and Transition (ORAT) team ensure that facilities, systems and processes are all tried and tested before go live. The People Manager is a key role responsible for planning, coordinating and ensuring the delivery of training and familiarisation for staff working in the facilities delivered by the Manchester Airport Transformation Programme takes place at the right time.

You’ll be responsible for creating and developing the People, Training and Familiarisation strategies. You’ll lead the training needs analysis across contractors, airport staff, service partners, airlines, handling agents, emergency services and control authorities identifying how, when and what people need to operate in the new facilities safely and successfully from day 1 of operations. The role will be varied and you will be dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels across the airport.

What will make you successful in this role

We’re looking for someone with experience of successfully managing the development of training and familiarisation for major projects. You’ll have great stakeholder management skills and be able to lead and influence at all levels, and you’ll be an effective communicator with the ability to present clearly and confidently. Ideally you’ll have experience of developing training products and materials for a variety of different channels and you’ll have a good understanding of working with operational teams, but we are not expecting the successful candidate to have specialist knowledge of airport operations.

What benefits can we offer?

What can we offer in return?
