Position Overview & Specifications
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Merseyrail for Station Assistants.
Sitting within our Commercial function, Station Assistants are the face of Merseyrail and therefore play a vital part of Merseyrail’s success.
A very diverse role, every hour/day throwing up a new challenge therefore requiring individuals who can deliver excellent customer service, think on their feet and have a good standard of education.
Successful candidates will be located in any of our Underground Stations: Liverpool Central, Moorfields, James Street and Lime Street (lower level), Birkenhead Hamilton Square.
Key responsibilities would include:
- Responsibility for the safety of our customers
- Delivering excellent customer service
- Managing crowd control
- Problem solving
- Ability to deal with confrontation
- Day to day responsibility for cleanliness of all aspects of the station
- Confidence and ability to deliver clear and concise announcements
- Dealing with members of the public on a daily basis
You will also be required to:
- Work a shift pattern which includes booking on prior to and after the commencement of service and cover 7 days per week, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
- Stand for long periods of time, undertake tasks involving manual handling and cleaning duties.
- Demonstrate ownership and pride in our stations whilst on duty and adhere to Merseyrail’s Rules & Regulations.
Please note:
This is a fulltime (35 hours) permanent role, working various shifts including weekends and Bank holidays. The salary is: £19,642 during 4 weeks training and following completion of training the salary will increase to: £23,535 per annum.
This role requires you to start before and after our trains start running so you must be able to make your own way to and from work.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a video interview and if successful following this, a face to face interview.
As part of the recruitment process, you will also be required to undergo a pre-employment medical and Drugs & Alcohol test.
