Due to a sustained period of growth and several significant contract wins we are looking to recruit several Highways Operatives to join our hardworking dedicated team in Dunball.

Our Highways team keep communities moving. These are key roles to help construct and maintain roads within Somerset Highways.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work as part of a team undertaking Highways repairs, ranging from Patching, Resurfacing, Potholes, Drainage, Footways and General Highway Maintenance.
• Use technology (tablets/apps) to input safety data and maintenance records.
• Drive/operate plant and equipment where trained, necessary for the for the day to day tasks set.
• Take responsibility for vehicles/plant/materials in your charge.
• Where appropriate provide direction/supervision of the work to less experienced operatives.
• Undertake winter and emergency maintenance out of hours activities on a standby rota.

Essential Skills:

• Clean driving License
• A commitment to Health and Safety
• Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy
• Ability to undertake a high level of manual work and work outdoors in all weathers.
• CSCS Card

Desirable:

• Highways experience
• New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) Operative Accreditation
• Lantra 12d
