Position Overview & Specifications

The successful candidate will support the delivery of the Morrisons Manufacturing Health & Safety Strategy within the sites to drive Health & Safety Standard at sites today, Supporting our colleagues to ensure everyone’s safety is at the forefront of everything they do. You’ll also focus on effectively Integrating with the site leadership team to drive compliance to Health & Safety, supporting Environmental standards and to ensure high colleague engagement across 1 or 2 sites. In addition to site leadership you’ll also support sites to drive continual improvements in their safety culture and all aspects of Health & Safety, including policies, procedures and risk assessments.

Customer


  • The ultimate customer are the colleagues working within our manufacturing sites, providing them with a safe working environment built on a robust health, safety and environmental management system that manages risks effectively

  • Ensuring the ways of working are robust, yet simple to understand and execute, specifically:

    • Simple, easy to understand site based Health, Safety & Environmental policies

    • Simple ways of working based on site risk assessments

    • Ensure Health & Safety and site specific risk training is available and completed

Colleagues


  • Listening & responding to colleagues at all levels with the goal of supporting site to continually improve the Health and Safety culture and reducing risk

  • Any amends, improvements or updates to the sites Health, Safety and Environmental management system are documented, guidance updated and effectively communicated

  • Act with integrity at all times to drive the Health and Safety culture at site

Operational

  • Ensure full compliance with all operational standards/ specifications /policy and procedures.

  • Oversee the site Health & Safety Management System, risk assessments, policies, procedures, and audits, based on site specific information and needs

  • Drive the Health, Safety and Environment strategy formally and informally, coaching teams and colleagues to drive a Health and Safety environment and ways of working

  • Provide a reactive support service for serious Health & Safety issues and incidents across the division

  • Deliver with site the Health & Safety improvement plans which include short and long term plans including accident reduction

  • Manage contacts from authorities, working with external partners as required; Legal, Consultants etc.

  • Oversee accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, safety observations and ensure cases of occupational ill health are fully investigated using root cause analysis, and support site(s) to implement measures to prevent reoccurrence

  • Support the Environmental management, permits and authority engagement, e.g. effluent plants, draining to the watercourse, fuel spillages, etc

  • Completes independent Health & Safety audits of site, supporting the sites to close out corrective actions

  • Provides independent investigations of accidents, incidents and whistle-blowers, reporting to the HSE as required

  • Coordinate and manage enforcement contacts and challenges to a resolution

  • Escalate high risk, incidents and decisions to Management for review and support
