8B Lead Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist / Emotional Difficulties Pathway Co-Lead (full time, permanent)

Due to the retirement of the current post holder, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to contribute to the leadership of Waltham Forest CAMHS alongside other Clinical leads.

Waltham Forest has a vibrant and expanding group of psychological professionals who are valued by the wider multidisciplinary team, as is the child psychotherapy service. Supported by the London wide Lead for Child Psychotherapy and the Waltham Forest CAMHS Head of Service, the post holder is responsible for the line management and clinical supervision of a Senior Child Psychotherapist, and oversight of two current trainees on placement. Child psychotherapists currently contribute to the emotional, neurodevelopmental and behavioural pathways in specialist CAMHS. The post holder will contribute to the development of child psychotherapy within Waltham Forest CAMHS by ensuring that service provision is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led, and by offering psychodynamic consultation to other parts of the service.

In addition to leading the Child Psychotherapy team, the post holder will co-lead the emotional difficulties pathway, alongside a Lead Clinical Psychologist and Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. You will co-ordinate multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions, ensure key performance indicators are met, and provide clinical consultation and care planning guidance to the MDT. You will hold a small caseload of children and families with complex needs, and can pursue a clinical specialism according to your interests and service demands.

You will be able to connect with child and adolescent psychotherapists in other parts of NELFT and contribute to service direction for CAMHS NELFT-wide, and can expect commitment to developing and retaining high quality staff through CPD, supervision and an annual psychological professions conference.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177 per annum pro rata).

This role sits on the management group of Waltham Forest CAMHS, which is responsible for overall service provision and direction across 7 pathways. Waltham Forest CAMHS is an innovative and forward-looking service, and you will have opportunities to champion new initiatives and improve standards for our children and families.
