Position Overview & Specifications
This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) to become an embedded member of the Paediatric Psychology and Liaison Service (PPALS) within the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP).
PPALS provide assessment, treatment and care to children, young people and their parents/carers under the care of paediatric medical specialties on an in-patient and out-patient basis across NHS Lothian.
The postholder(s) will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and formulation-based individual- and group- interventions across a range of psychological presentations in paediatric health psychology. They will also deliver supervision, consultation and a collaborative role across services involved in the continuity of psychological care.
Additional training and support relevant to this role will be provided for the successful candidate. We are interested in hearing from applicants requiring full-time or part-time hours and welcome telephone enquiries to discuss these opportunities further.
Responsible for the management of a specialist caseload in the Paediatric Psychology and Liaison Service.
Responsible for providing psychology teaching, training, consultancy and supervision activities management within a governance structure.
To provide clinical supervision and support in relation to the psychological assessment, therapy and management provided by trainee applied psychologists, multi-disciplinary clinicians and staff within the designated clinical area.
To undertake audit and research relevant to paediatric psychology
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
