Position Overview & Specifications

We have Clinical Development Fellow posts available to start in August 2023 within the Emergency Department at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. These posts will be based on a 12 month contract although we are open to discussing 6 month contracts at interview. We currently have 3 posts available which are 70% clinical and 30% non-clinical posts. Each post will focus on one of the 4 disciplines which include teaching, quality improvement and wellbeing and Trauma/Resus, if you are successfully shortlisted for interview you will receive a full job pack describing each post in further detail.

You will become part of the team in Scotland’s largest and newest Emergency Department, driven to excel in Emergency and Trauma Care. We began operating as the West of Scotland Major Trauma Centre in August 2021 and our trauma care only goes from strength to strength. You will play a fundamental role in our team gaining experience in all aspects of emergency and critical care. Will we train you, develop your clinical skills and knowledge and help you achieve your future career goals. You will leave the QEUH Emergency Department with a passion for EM, a robust CV, a smile on your face and a skip in your step! Previous Clinical Development Fellows have been top competitors in interviews, with a proven track record of securing highly sought-after national training posts.

Since beginning our journey, the Emergency Department team of Scotland’s showpiece hospital The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital have been evolving and developing an enviable research portfolio under our EMQUIRE umbrella, with a focus on Quality Improvement, Education and leading innovation projects.

Whether you’re considering your next career move, want some more experience before entering specialist training, simply want to learn something new or are just excited to work within the bustling, biggest and busiest major trauma centre in Scotland, make your time count for something, these posts have much to offer you.

Whilst prior experience in Emergency Medicine is desirable it is not an absolute requirement. You will take part in our award winning education programme which will provide you with the core teaching and supervision similar to that of an FY2 / CT1. We would also be delighted to receive applications for more experienced doctors looking to take their emergency medicine skills to a more advanced level. You could be our next Senior Trauma Fellow and would take full advantage of our senior teaching program for ST3 and above.

Applicants should have achieved foundation level competencies and have worked for at least 6 months within the NHS (excludes clinical attachments and observership posts).

These posts have not been approved for Training purposes by NES. To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a licence. All candidates must be available to commence work on 2nd August 2023.
