NHS Tayside and Dundee University Medical School have an excellent international reputation and Tayside also offers a great professional opportunity to those interested in academia or teaching. The department enjoys close links with the University Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics (UDOTS), which hosts a renowned and established MChOrth course along with other postgraduate courses, and there are abundant teaching opportunities within the medical school. We are home to the East of Scotland Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery training program with 16 Specialty Trainees and take great pride in the quality of our postgraduate training which regularly ranks highly within the GMC national training survey.
Tayside has an abundance of choice with regard to housing and schooling, with both excellent public and private education options. It is a region of outstanding natural beauty, from the North Sea coast in the east to the highs of the Cairngorm Mountains to the west. Our region is exceptionally well suited to an active and outdoor lifestyle. Working in Tayside can also offer a great work-life balance with quick, easy links by road or rail to St Andrews (11 miles) and the other main cities within Scotland; Edinburgh (55 miles), Aberdeen (65 miles) and Glasgow (80 miles)
Applicants must have full GMC registration, a licence to practice and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration CESR or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
