Position Overview & Specifications

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is Mon – Fri (8.30/9am-4.30/5pm)

The Glasgow South Community Learning Disability Team are seeking to recruit a committed, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our experienced team of health and social work professionals. The post-holder will have experience in working with people with a learning disability/mental health needs and evidence of advanced learning and development.

You will be a key support to people whether at home, in hospital or other care setting. Assistance in enabling residents within Glasgow South HSCP who have a primary diagnosis of learning disability to live a fully inclusive community life, minimising the impact of their learning disability or complex needs, and ensuring equal access to all health care and housing. Given the current Scottish Government directive for Learning Disability services on progressing delayed discharges and preventing unnecessary admissions/placement breakdowns (Coming Home, 2022) the Glasgow South team, as with other CLDT’s, are embedding new review processes, for which you will be actively involved in related care & treatment plans along with registered Occupational Therapy colleagues and the wider team. You will have responsibility for the organisation, prioritisation and time-management of your own caseload as delegated by a registered Occupational Therapist / Lead Occupational Therapist and review in collaboration with Senior Occupational Therapy staff. You will support a range of clinical activity within the Learning Disability Team as delegated, report and liaise effectively with all professionals involved in delegated work, maintaining associated records, whilst ensuring good professional working relationships with clients, carers, statutory and voluntary agencies.

Ideally the candidates will have a current driving licence with access to a car for the purpose of work
