Position Overview & Specifications

Reporting to the Deputy Chief People Officer, the post holder is responsible for the portfolio and services they lead across the Trust. The post holder will have a role in working with system partners to develop a collaborative and consistent approach across the ICS and will lead BNSSG programme/project work and transformation projects as appropriate.

The Associate Director of People is responsible for;
  • Leading, developing and motivating the People Services Team
  • Reviewing the implications of and implementing national contractual terms & conditions changes both within the Trust and working collaboratively across BNSSG
  • Leading the People Services transformation for the Trust
  • Ensuring provision of first line support on people issues for managers and colleagues through a self-service/capability improvement approach, including People Hub, LINK, advice line, advice sessions and guidance
  • Professional lead on employee case work for the Trust, through a restorative just culture/workplace early resolution process approach
  • Leading the development, review and improvement of employment policies & procedures, including framework for research/review, stakeholder engagement and roll out
  • Leading the People Team to deliver innovative, state of the art, people processes and policies.
  • Supporting, advising and developing Line Managers across the Trust to truly enable our staff, their motivation and performance
  • This post requires the post holder to have highly specialist knowledge of the various portfolio areas, services and functions for which they are responsible for. A continuous improvement mindset is required through ongoing development, training and knowledge of best practice, new innovations, current legislation and employment law changes
  • Responsible for policy implementation and development for the major strategic and operational areas outlined above
  • Building relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at every level including, national and system partners, Trust Board, divisional and corporate senior manager teams, and TU colleagues
  • Implement national policy and provide expert input to the organisations policies/strategies in the areas they are responsible for
  • Leading, developing and motivating high performing teams for the various departments , being able to inspire commitment to change
  • Work collaboratively across the local ICS, developing system wide services and aligning workforce policy and processes
  • Act as the professional lead on workforce projects, adopting a project management approach to the design, development, implementation and evaluation of change
  • Responsible for interpreting HR legislation, employment law and policies and translating them into Trust wide People strategy

The post holder will have a key role in working with system partners to develop a collaborative and consistent approach across the ICS and will lead BNSSG programme/project work and transformation projects.

They will deputise at meetings for the Deputy CPO as required and will be required to interpret best practice, employment legislation, national guidance, and case law and provide authoritative advice on specialist people issues relating to the services they lead to key stakeholders, including the Chief People Officer and the Trust Board.
