Position Overview & Specifications
The post holder will participate in the delivery of high standards of care to patients and their families. In particular taking responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients
They will participate in the day to day maintenance of the unit when required, ensuring smooth and efficient running in the absence of the Ward Manager. They will take responsibility for their own self-development helping to provide a suitable learning environment and high standards of clinical practice. To recognise own limitations and seek advice and support from senior staff.
Provide effective input into the work of the Trust, to support the achievement of our vision and Values.

Clinical excellence:
The post holder will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care, maintaining at all times the highest standard of nursing care.
Liaise with, and provide relevant information to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Assist in the supervision and monitoring of nursing practice under the guidance of the nurse in charge.
Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Demonstrate good standards of practice with regard to documentation in-line with Trust policy.
Demonstrate a good knowledge base of general nursing care using the latest evidence on which to base their practice.
Demonstrate competence, or willingness to develop competence, in expanded role skills.
People/Management Excellence:
Prioritise and demonstrate the ability to manage their own workload as well as supervising more junior colleagues.
He/she will promote positive working relationships within the multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and help to maintain morale and motivation within the working environment.
Be proactive in dealing with problems and demonstrate the ability to identify a problem and be able to work through it to a satisfactory resolution.

Promote and provide health education for patients and their carers/family.
