Staff Nurse

SDEC offers Same Day Emergency Care to patients in a hospital setting. Patients are assessed, diagnosed and treated enabling patients to be discharged and if required return for treatment, diagnostic tests, reviews or referred to a specialty. SDEC is an integral part of the Emergency Care Pathway.

The post holder will participate in the delivery of high standards of care to patients and their families. In particular taking responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients

They will participate in the day to day maintenance of the unit when required, ensuring smooth and efficient running in the absence of the Ward Manager. They will take responsibility for their own self-development helping to provide a suitable learning environment and high standards of clinical practice. To recognise own limitations and seek advice and support from senior staff.

Liaise with, and provide relevant information to other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Assist in the supervision and monitoring of nursing practice under the guidance of the nurse in charge.
