Position Overview & Specifications

Are you an enthusiastic CBT Therapist who wishes to make a difference to patients with long term mental health problems, providing evidence-based treatments across Oxfordshire?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our service as a CBT Therapist. This is a key role to be part of the continuing development of psychological therapies within the integrated Adult Mental Health Teams (AMHTs) in Oxfordshire.

In this role, you will:
  • Work as part of the locality psychological therapies team within the Adult Mental Health Team, seeing patients individually and in groups, providing formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s mental health problems.
  • Be responsible for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.
  • Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning the patients mental health difficulties.
  • Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to the wider Adult Mental Health Team to help develop their patients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Receive professional clinical supervision for yourself from other appropriately trained senior psychological therapy staff.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of the teams operational practices to ensure high quality, responsive and accessible services are available.

We actively encourage innovation and research with opportunities for collaborations with the University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry. We would really like to hear from you If you have skills in delivering therapy to this client group and can demonstrate:
  • A good working knowledge of effective treatments.
  • Sound clinical risk assessment and management.
  • Experience of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
  • Supervising and consulting with therapists, trainees or other clinical staff as appropriate to the role.
Please note:
  • New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
  • Appointment to this post is subject to the trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.
