Position Overview & Specifications

The post holder is a qualified expert practitioner, working autonomously within a specialist field of imaging undertaking advanced practice.

Where the applicant requires training the competency direction will be toward the ability to perform the described requirements within this document. There will be a requirement of current HCPC registration and current clinical radiography practice to be considered for the training post.

The post holder will work autonomously within agreed protocols to perform a range of diagnostic fluoroscopy and CT gastro-intestinal examinations, and provide independent diagnostic reports.

The advanced practitioner is responsible for their clinical work and professional development and will be required to provide training and education to colleagues undertaking professional development in GI imaging

To undertake, interpret and be accountable for diagnostic imaging undertaken. To formulate and issue clinical reports.

To participate in film review sessions with Consultant Radiologist.

To promote and encourage good and effective professional practices in the department by example and instruction.

To participate in advanced evidence based practice.

To use advanced clinical judgement to enable independent decision-making.

To assist and encourage service development and innovation.

To participate in and actively represent the specialty in clinical meetings and within multi-disciplinary teams.

Radiology Directorate

The Radiology Directorate encompasses a range of services including x-ray, computerised tomography (CT), breast imaging, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), interventional radiology (IR), ultrasound (US), nuclear medicine, angiography and fluoroscopy.

The Directorate has Radiology departments across four hospital sites; the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and Horton General Hospital.
