Junior Chef

We're on the lookout for a day-time Junior/Commis Chef to join our exciting and ever-growing dining destination "The Palm House."

About the role:

We are on the search for a passionate chef, capable of working within the team and thriving within a busy, fast paced environment.

Great pay as well as hours, with a typical shift 8.00am-5pm, approx 35hrs per week (business operates 7 days a week, with some occasional evening event work too)

We're looking for someone with varied experience and a desire to improve and learn, whilst supporting our senior chefs. We're looking for someone who enjoys cooking tasty food, as well as preparing and creating dishes in a fun environment.

As a Junior/Commis Chef you’ll be responsible for:

• Preparation and cooking of food, presentation, and recipe specifications
• Assisting in all areas of the kitchen for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and private hire functions.
• Ensuring the kitchen areas are clean and tidy, assisting with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen units and equipment.
• Maintaining strict food hygiene and health & safety standards
• Assisting to ensure our chefs have everything they need to make our fresh dishes.
• Ability to work within a great team, as well as under own initiative to provide a high standard of work, in what can occasionally be a high pressure and time conscious environment.

The ideal candidate:

• Will have prior experience as a Junior/commis chef within a fast-paced quality restaurant.
• A passion for food and hospitality, along with the eagerness to continually learn.
• Communication skills, being able to work within the team.
• Food safety understanding to help label and store deliveries correctly.
• Able to work quickly to prep fresh food in a busy kitchen.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, Basic Food Hygiene or equivalent.
• Be self-motivated and able to work under your own initiative.
• The right to live and work in the UK.

The current rate for Tronc is £3.12 per hour and rising, this has been included within the quoted rates of pay.

Please note that due to our rural location, you will need your own transport to get to work.

Salary: £19,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
