Position Overview & Specifications
Parkol Marine Engineering Ltd. is a shipbuilding and vessel repair company based in North Yorkshire with shipyards in Whitby and Middlesbrough.
This role is for our Middlesbrough yard, located at A.V.Dawson's facility on Riverside Park Road, Middlesbrough.
The primary purpose of the role is to:
- Lead and coordinate the safe and effective operation of the Stores facilities, including inventory control, receipting deliveries and booking onto stock.
- Identify and manage innovation projects that will improve and drive efficiency through the Stores and management systems.
- Serve as a point of contact for customers and suppliers, effectively managing and resolving issues in an appropriate and professional manner.
Your duties will involve:
- Stock control and inspection of all parts, materials and consumables;
- Controlling incoming and outgoing logistics and deliveries;
- Off-loading deliveries using a forklift;
- Maintaining good housekeeping of Stores and yard area;
- Regular contact with the Buyer and with Whitby Stores to update stock levels and transfers;
- Quality control of all parts and consumables to ensure that the highest standard of products are maintained;
- Assist in providing technical support to Stores users, helping to resolve any issues.
Experience and Skills Required:
- You will have a strong background in warehouse or stores management with experience of utilising software for the control of material requirements and stock levels;
- Strong organisational skills are essential in this role and you will be able to demonstrate the systematic handling of goods in and out;
- You must be self-motivated and be able to work under pressure and to tight timescales;
- You will have excellent communication skills and be able to confidently interact with people at all levels internally and externally, including customer contact;
- Supplier relationships are key in this role and you will be able to demonstrate supply chain management skills;
- You must be able to understand and effectively carry out work instruction and be able to work on your own initiative;
- You will be proactive and have experience of identifying and proposing improvement initiatives;
- Ideally you will carry a background in data analysis and be able to utilise large amounts of data to identify and then deliver Stores improvement;
- Forklift experience and qualification are essential.
