Position Overview & Specifications

Operations Director – 55k to 60k

My Client:

My client is an industry leader in the skills and apprenticeship space and is looking for an experienced Operations Director or a proven senior leader ready for that next step to join their business and to take a lead in taking them forward to even further success!

Working from their head office in Coventry, you’ll be responsible for managing an operation that covers Coventry and Warwickshire and be responsible for leading the operation.

Day to Day:

As an operations director, you will be responsible for roughly 40 staff members across multiple department, being hands on and influencing everything from course delivery, marketing, overseeing and signing of contracts, etc.

Due to the nature of the role, having strong stakeholder management is crucial to be able to influence projects and the work environment in a positive way, being driven with a continuous improvement approach, as well as being a great problem solver.

Role and Responsibilities:

What you can expect to be responsible for as an operations director:

  • Manage and motivate a team to deliver outstanding teaching and learning
  • Contribute to strategic planning, identifying opportunities for business growth
  • Implement contracts; identifying resource requirements, potential opportunities and risks
  • Manage team workloads, contracts, sales, marketing and recruitment activities
  • Develop, implement and review operational policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the tendering and negotiation of contracts and proposals
  • Identify opportunities and address problems for the organisation
  • Co-ordinate, manage and review quality assurance, including rigorous annual self-assessment and production of quality improvement plans
  • Advise on strategies to improve success rates and standards of delivery
  • Deliver robust observation of teaching and learning that drives quality improvement
  • High level awareness of local and national developments in the skills sector
  • Liaise with external stakeholders to develop the portfolio of services
  • Participate in the identification of personnel requirements and staff recruitment
  • Undertake staff appraisals and reviews of performance, implement improvement strategies, identify staff training needs and share best practice
  • Ensure effective communications internally across teams and externally to employers and stakeholders

Necessary Skills:

  • Strong organisational skills, analytical and problem-solvingskillsand strong ICT skills
  • Experience in leadership and management in the skills sector
  • Efficient communication both verbally and in written form
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance principles, methods, design and delivery within the skills sector
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning, change and time management capabilities
  • Strong judgement and decision making skills
