Position Overview & Specifications

JOB PURPOSE

To support the PLSA’s advocacy in Parliament and among key stakeholder bodies, and support colleagues in ensuring that the PLSA is seen as the leading authority on workplace pensions and lifetime savings.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The post holder will report to the Parliamentary and Stakeholder Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

You will help monitor developments on policy in Parliament, especially the Work and Pensions Committee, APPGs, and key stakeholder bodies, such as the ABI, IA, PMI, ACA, TUC, and provide reports on developments to the PLSA.

You will support in the implementation of the Association’s lobbying and campaigning activity in Parliament.

You will help organise parliamentary events and meetings, receptions, private dinners and provide support in preparing staff members ahead of Select Committee appearances.

You will help coordinate the PLSA’s party conference attendance.

You will assist in the production of briefings and letters with target parliamentary contacts.

You will add value to our Parliamentary monitoring providing timely updates to relevant staff and ensuring policy colleagues are sighted at all times on key developments and relevant issues.

You will help maintain an up-to-date contact list of key stakeholders and capture relevant meeting feedback and action points.

You will support with written briefings on policy for the CEO and Director of Policy & Advocacy in preparation for meetings with senior politicians and key stakeholders.

Any other administrative tasks as necessary.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE

Experience of working in parliamentary affairs or Stakeholder relations.

A good knowledge of the workings of Government and the political process.

Experience of writing briefings for internal and external audiences for meetings and events

Ability to understand and relay complex information.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the current issues affecting pensions.

Experience of membership organisations.

Experience of public policy in the financial services and/ or pensions industry.

Salary: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
