Position Overview & Specifications

Manthorpe Building Products is a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of plastic injection moulded, vacuum formed and extruded products for the building industry.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller to join our company, based from the Manthorpe site in Ripley, DE5.

Role: The Financial controller will be the lead finance role in the business unit and responsible with the assistance of the management account for producing all required finance information and maintaining the financial control environment. The role will business partner with internal stakeholders to drive improvements in financial performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all reporting and close deadlines and timetables are effectively and efficiently achieved.
  • Capital expenditure – evaluation and preparation of submissions including management of the overall spend level to approved budgetary limits. Supervising the post appraisal review of the projects which fall within the scope.
  • Overseeing all accounting procedures and systems used by the business unit.
  • Review of accounts and investigation of variances including setting recovery plans where appropriate.
  • Verify rebate calculations and approve supplier, customer and payroll payments.
  • Presentation of the performance of the business to the senior management team to ensure understanding of the performance in their areas, in sufficient detail to make informed management decisions based on the information communicated.
  • Develop the internal reporting metrics and mechanisms to optimize the usefulness and impact of these reports within the business.
  • Overall control of all financial transactions and accountancy matters.
  • Cash and Working capital management.
  • Ensure all financial reporting is accurate and a clean audit opinion for the business unit is received.
  • Primary business unit contact for the external auditors, responsible for ensuring all information is provided correctly and in a timely manner..
  • Lead and manage the annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting process.
  • Provide the relevant financial expertise in support of the senior team and wider business.
  • Challenge the business functions to maximise profitability and efficiency within their areas and as a business.
  • Manage and develop the management accountant.

Requirements:

  • Superb analytical skills with a focus on detail.
  • Diligent about hitting all deadlines and adaptability to turnaround urgent requests.
  • Ability to communicate financial information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Flexibility to take on additional ad hoc roles and duties as required in a relatively small team.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of accounting in a made to stock manufacturing business.
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
