Position Overview & Specifications

As the Product Owner in this crucial area, you will be responsible for owning the Integration Services Management capabilities for the Technology group, supporting the agreed-upon business and technology roadmap. With Primark's ongoing international expansion, the need for modern, integrated solutions for the network is of utmost importance. Your role will involve overseeing existing systems and collaborating with the business while representing the technology teams to realise the vision of transitioning to a more sophisticated integration approach.

Reporting to the Senior Product Manager for Movement, you will closely collaborate with functional and technology partners to develop and manage optimal solutions using recognised methodologies that align with Primark business objectives. Your role will entail maintaining a vision for leveraging technology to solve critical business challenges, understanding the impact of technical solutions on business outcomes, and ensuring return on investment. Proactively leading collaboration and engagement with various partners, you will deliver best practice solutions based on agreed-upon requirements within this area.

Further you will:
  • Possess business expertise in overall supply chain management.
  • Confidently lead discussions with internal and external partners to gather information, understand true business needs, and document them as User Stories.
  • Act as the Technical Product Owner for the end-to-end integration solution in this area.
  • Lead and support analysis, solution design, and estimation for various projects and backlog items that address business problems.
  • Prioritise work based on an understanding of requirements and business impact.
  • Comprehend technology strategy and contribute to the development of business case alternatives that anticipate the future direction of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage products to ensure value is delivered to end users, ensuring smooth operations and system availability
  • Working with Business stakeholders, set vision for your products using industry knowledge, functional expertise and your understanding of the Primark business context. Support the business owner in defining objectives that will influence the product vision
  • Combine awareness of the relevant business area, the retail market, our customers and other consuming technology product teams to ensure products satisfy all three
  • Understand user needs, how the business works and driving the development of the product through clear prioritisation. Envisaging and understand the final product and conveying the value it creates and what problems it solves
  • Work with the Senior Product Manager to define, prioritise, and break down the feature backlog into stories, including clarification and acceptance criteria
  • Initiate and translate the product road map into a manageable product backlog and prioritise delivery based on value, risk and service considerations
  • Responsible for product development and operations, participating in Sprint and Product Increment planning, and providing a refined and precisely prioritised product backlog for the development team Supporting the articulation of sprint goals by providing product vision
  • Accountable for the release plan, strategy, and cross-portfolio alignment of priorities for the suite of integration products identified to address business and customer challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with key team members and delivery partner to ensure the acceptance criteria of stories is met and support the release planning and sprint planning exercises
  • Understand Agile estimation approaches and support the delivery team in being self-managing

Knowledge & Experience Required:
  • Significant understanding of strategic integration technologies within the supply chain.
  • Recent relevant experience as a product owner.
  • Experience with global supply chain solutions from movement of goods from origin to store.
  • Multi-channel experience.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest technical solutions in integration services and automation.
  • Over 3 years’ experience in business relationship management in an IT environment.
  • Industry or functional expertise validated through experience working for a Retailer.
  • An appropriate degree, equivalent qualification, or experience.
  • Preferably a certification in Agile Product Ownership, Scaled Agile or equivalent.

  • Be able to understand the business and technical requirements of our partners, and work closely with the internal/external development teams to guide the direction of supply chain activities.
  • Have experience in the software product development cycle, with Scrum or/and Kanban.
  • Possess proven experience in establishing and growing products
  • Have excellent knowledge of relevant business portfolio and functional expertise
  • Possess excellent Business partner and supplier leadership skills
  • Consistent track record of strategic and innovative thinking
  • Consistent record of driving service and delivery improvement
  • Commercial management experience and financial literacy
