Specialty Grade Doctor

We are looking for a Specialty Grade Dr (PICU) in Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital, in the Cheadle area £70,000-£80,000 depending on skills and experience - NO ON CALL

Priory is the UK's largest independent provider of Eating Disorder Services and Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital is a specialist provider of complex mental health services, providing clinical excellence across 13 wards which include acute adult wards, Eating Disorder Service, CAMHS, Rehabilitation, Acute and PICU services. Situated on Wilmslow road with easy transport links.

We are looking for a Speciality Grade Doctor in our Pankhurst ward. This is a 10 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for adult female patients, who are experiencing an acute phase of mental illness. . Pankhurst uses the Safe wards model to promote therapeutic relationships and reduce restrictive interventions. Furthermore, Pankhurst delivers care through work with a full MDT to offer assessment and treatment. The service works closely with the patient, their family and community teams, to achieve individualised goals and ensure discharge pathways are in place.

As of February 2023, out of hours cover for the site is provided by NES Healthcare and, as such, working hours are 37.5 hours per week, which conventionally runs from 9am to 5pm. No on call required.

You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team in aspiring to provide excellent bespoke care to enable our patients to fulfil their recovery goals and work towards discharge to the life they want. The post holder will work under supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist . The Specialty Doctor has a key role in working cohesively with a supervising consultant, nursing team and wider MDT to deliver best outcomes for complex patients with challenging presentations.

Due to the specialist nature of these services, the Specialty Doctor has a key role in providing evidence-based assessment and treatment under direct supervision and support from the consultant. We have a national reputation for offering treatment for complex and challenging presentations in all our service users. You will also report to the supervising consultant and is expected to have formal supervision at a frequency compatible with Priory policy, and to be a member of a peer group within Priory.

What you need

• GMC registration with a license to practice
• Substantive experience in Psychiatry
• Section 12 approval (desirable)
• MRCPsych (desirable)
