Production Assistant (Staining Lab)

Pro-Lab Diagnostics is a market leader in innovative Microbiology diagnostics and instrumentation. The Operations team is responsible for supporting the complete range of products offered, ranging from wet microbiology diagnostics such as ELISA, latex and lateral flow, to molecular diagnostics, antibiotic susceptibility testing, total laboratory automation and informatics.

The position will report to the Operations Manager and be part of a close team consisting of other production assistants and a warehouse operatives. The position works closely with all members of the in-house team.

The position will be part of a team working a 5-day week, 9am – 5pm, Monday-Friday

The position is primarily the production of microbiology stains and dyes.

Tasks & Duties

The position works under the supervision of the Operations Manager and the General Manager

Planning, manufacture, dispensing and packaging of concentrated and ready to use staining solutions.

Use of Minotaur production planning and control.

Use of Minotaur for planning and control of all raw materials.

All production to be carried out in accordance with current SOP / Manufacturing Instructions.

All labeling and packaging to be carried out in accordance with current SOP / Manufacturing Instructions.

Preparation and dispensing of water to be carried out in accordance with current SOP / Manufacturing Instructions.

Preparation of QC slides to be carried out in accordance with current SOP / Manufacturing Instructions.

General cleaning and tidying duties in the laboratory area to be carried out in accordance with current SOP.

Monitoring and requisitioning of all raw materials and packaging products required, including booking in and approval of materials to be carried out in accordance with current SOP.

Adherence to all safety and personal protection guidelines for working in the laboratory and warehouse areas.

Additional responsibility will include overseeing that all work and responsibilities of production assistants are carried out correctly; all documentation is managed and kept up to date. Working closely with Operations Manager on any issues and future products.

Competency Requirements:

Product awareness training for all products.

Basic computer skills, word / Xcl.

Familiarization and full understanding of all SOP’s relevant to the position. Familiarization with the Pro-Lab Group Quality Manual and Employee Hand Book. Understanding of COSHH and Health and Safety where appropriate.

Specific additional training as required identified and requested in line with individual and company goals

Educational Requirements:

English / Maths GCSE or similar qualification,

Background in science A-Level / BSC preferred
