Summary


The Qualifications team at PSI is growing due to an expansion in the programs and services we provide and we are looking for a highly organized and efficient ESOL/EFL specialist to help with the ongoing development of test content for our suite of language tests.


Who we are looking for

The Test Content Developer will apply technical expertise in item development, item editing, item bank management, test creation, and project management to the development of language assessments. The Test Content Developer will manage and ensure quality assurance of language test content, facilitate training of item writers and reviewers, maintain test and item banks using PSI’s proprietary item banking and test delivery software, and coordinate pre-testing and piloting activities. The Test Content Developer is responsible for ensuring that test content is fit for purpose, has followed agreed processes and developed in line with established standards. They will represent the team at internal and external meetings and provide expertise, support and guidance to internal stakeholders and partner organizations.


This position is expected to be remote (location must be within the UK).


Core responsibilities/Key Functions


  • Train and provide feedback to item writer and reviewers
  • Quality assure test content in line with best practice and manage item banks
  • Recruit, contract, and commission assignments for external associates
  • Edit and proofread items according to grammar, spelling, test item format, and conformance to language assessment style guides.
  • Support pre-testing and piloting activities where required
  • Participate in standard setting activities
  • Prepare exams for publication and perform quality checks
  • Develop and maintain timelines for test development activities and track progress in project management ticketing software
  • Coordinate test development and test publication activities with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Business Development, Complementary Services, Scoring, Candidate Care and Operations teams
  • Support other language assessment team members with tasks related to test development.

Qualifications/role requirements


  • Bachelor Degree
  • Qualification in Applied Linguistic, TESOL/TEFL.
  • Experience of delivering English language courses for general and academic purposes across all levels of CEFR.
  • Experience of working on, developing or management of high stakes English language tests.
  • Experience of process and project management including managing project deliverables, timelines and outputs.
  • Experience of managing multiple projects and timelines and managing multiple time zones.
  • Experience of working with diverse teams, giving presentations and providing feedback.
  • Experience of dealing with complex problems and providing effective solutions using analytical skills and available data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred


  • Experience of test content development (e.g. as item writer or reviewer).
  • Experience of developing test taker support materials.
  • Experience of working with test data and using these to support decision making.
  • Experience of working with item banks and approaches to item banking.
