Position Overview & Specifications

The post holder joins a growing behavioural science team whose mission is to increase the application of behavioural science across the public health system - to optimise policies, services and communications aiming to improve and protect wellbeing and health.

This post will play a central role in developing, maintaining and mobilizing knowledge and the application of behavioural science for and with partners in the public health system.

The post holder will also be an integral part of the team, undertaking research to support the application of behavioural theories to intervention design across a wide range of public and professional groups, and behaviours.

The vacancy will be based at Capital Quarter, Cardiff, but working from home is supported with the requirement to attend monthly team meetings at base and infrequent events around Wales. You will be provided with the support and equipment you will need to be able to work from home but an internet/WIFI connection is essential.

The post will be integral to the range of functions of the Unit, supporting the provision of specialist, behavioural science-based: advice and consultation; capability building, including the production of knowledge and resources; and directly applying behavioural science within partners’ intervention development.

This post will play a central role in consolidating and further developing our fledgling online repository; identifying, collating and curating global knowledge and resources, and enabling increasingly easy and routine access by our partners.

You will further support our knowledge mobilisation function through coordinating our newly established Behavioural Science Community of Practice, bringing together academics, policy makers and practitioners for meaningful exchange and collaboration.

You will undertake secondary and primary qualitative and quantitative research to support: capability development and resources, new behavioural insight and, the application of behavioural theories to intervention design.

You will develop and undertake testing and evaluation of our work, and of the impact of the addition of behavioural science to our partners’ work in the Welsh public health system.

So, in addition to sound research, evaluation and knowledge management skills you will also bring project management skills to help manage your work in a range of projects that make up the unit work programme.
