Position Overview & Specifications
Public Health Wales Microbiology North Wales has a central (hub) laboratory within a new pathology build at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd (Bodelwyddan) and has acute service spoke laboratories at Ysbyty Gwynedd (Bangor) and Ysbyty Maelor (Wrexham). This post will primarily be based in the central laboratory at Rhyl but the post holder will be required to support spoke laboratories when necessary. North Wales Microbiology provides a wide range of diagnostic services to hospitals, clinics and general practitioners across North Wales. The laboratory provides diagnostic bacteriology, viral serology, benefits from Kiestra Automation and a range of molecular platforms. The laboratory is ISO 15189 accredited and approved for training purposes.
Applicants will need to be educated to degree level and possess a higher specialist diploma. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate well developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to lead and support individual and team working.
The laboratory operates a 7 day, 24 hr service and working patterns will include shifts covering core days, evenings and weekends on a rotational basis.
