Position Overview & Specifications

We have a great role for a Junior Product Developer to join a design led brand specializing in furniture and lighting products.

We are seeking creative and motivated candidates to join the team and play a key role in assisting the product development process, working closely with the Product Development team to create and bring to market innovative and sustainable lighting and furniture products. This role will involve collaborating with various internal teams, external suppliers, and artisans to develop unique and marketable products that align with the company's brand values and design aesthetic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Product Development team in researching and identifying trends, materials, and techniques for lighting and furniture products.

  • Assist in the creation of design briefs and product specifications, including sketches, CAD drawings, and technical documents.

  • Collaborate with suppliers, artisans, and other stakeholders to source materials, components, and production methods that meet quality and sustainability standards.

  • Conduct sample reviews and provide feedback on prototypes, ensuring that products meet design specifications and are aligned with the company's brand values.

  • Participate in product testing, quality control, and product improvement initiatives.

  • Assist in managing the product development timeline and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, competitor analysis, and market research to inform product development decisions.

  • Support the Product Development team in maintaining accurate product documentation, including specifications, samples, and production records.

  • Provide administrative support to the Product Development team, such as organizing samples, maintaining databases, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

  • Maintain all documents and internal systems including product catalogue

  • Improving and developing effective internal and external systems and processes to support the growth of the Product Development team

  • Travel to suppliers in the UK and abroad.

  • Providing input to sales analysis key conclusions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in product development, industrial design, or a related field.

  • Previous experience in product development, buying or related roles, preferably within the retail homeware industry.

  • Knowledge of lighting and furniture products, including materials, production techniques, and industry trends.

  • Proficient in design software such as CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Passion for sustainability and familiarity with B Corp principles and practices.

  • Creative mindset, with the ability to think critically and problem-solve.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
