Brighter Futures for Children is a not-for-profit company, owned by, but independent of, Reading Borough Council. Although we are independent, we are very much part of the Reading Family. About the role

The Learning & Workforce/L&D function encompasses all the typical aspects of L&D work, from training needs analysis, through to elements of instructional design, ad-hoc delivery, evaluation, and reporting. You should have an interest in Learning & Workforce Development, and previous experience is welcomed but not required.


This is a busy role in which the post holder is to provide high quality administrative support to ensure the function remains organised, and our learning offer easily accessible. The post holder must provide a seamless customer experience as it will interact with those in the business often via the company mailbox and in person.


The role

  • To book training venues for courses which are funded via the L&D budget, or other courses/events where required by the L&D Partner/HR Manager.
  • To be responsible for the administration of all courses within the annual L&D training calendar, and ad-hoc courses as they arise, this includes but not limited to, generating participant lists, sending agreed joining instructions to participants/vendors/instructors, participant reminders
  • To be responsible for collecting delegate attendance list(s) after course completion, updating the Learning Management system within agreed timescales.
  • To be responsible for the team inbox, including the prioritisation of all incoming messages, and forwarding queries to the relevant parties, where necessary.
  • To ensure that POs are raised and receipted promptly for all training courses.
  • To assist in financial duties when required
  • To assist with general administration tasks to keep the L&D function organised (including maintaining SharePoint) and support on L&D projects as required by the L&D Partner

The L&D Administrator is required to have

  • GCSE English & Maths grace C or recognised equivalent
  • Previous demonstratable experience of using Microsoft packages, including
    • Word – intermediate level
    • Excel – basic level
    • Outlook – calendar, tasks, email
  • Moderate experience where there are constant demands on time, preferable supporting multiple users and manging conflicting priorities
