Reliance Ambulance Service is an Independant Ambulance Service based in Chobham, Surrey. We are regulated by the CQC and are currently rated 'Good'. Reliance provide non-emergency patient transport services to hospitals within Surrey and the surrounding areas as well as short & long distance transfers.
The 'Ambulance Care Assistant' is responsible for carrying out patient transport services whilst ensuring that the patient receives high quality, professional and compassionate care.
Ambulance Care Assistants will transport a range of people to and from clinics, renal dialysis, hospitals or other places of care. You often see the same patients on a regular basis and get to know them, especially with renal dialysis patients. Some of your passengers will be anxious about their hospital visit and will value you reassuring them and the opportunity to talk about their concerns during the journey.
We are looking for both full time and part time staff, employed or self employed and you will receive the necessary training and uniform to fulfill the role.
Main duties
- Driving the company ambulances to transport patients from their place of accommodation to their desired destination.
- Performing patient moving and handling tasks.
- Be of good character and able to communicate accordingly with members of staff, management and service users.
- This role requires mandatory training and competence in all relevant areas, this requires attendance to assessment days.
- Read and abide by the company policies and procedures.
- Complete vehicle and equipment checks at the start, during and end of each shift to ensure the readiness of the vehicle, equipment and consumables to respond as required. Report all defects and damage in accordance with local procedures
- Actively participate in cleaning routines including vehicles, equipment, and areas of the work facilities to ensure that infection prevention and control standards are adhered to.
- Report any safeguarding concerns, incidents, near-misses or complaints to their line manager
- Maintain absolute patient confidentiality, ensuring information governance and data protection procedures are always adhered to.
- Provide care and treatment in line with the agreed scope of practice.
Essential
- Full UK driving licence with category B. No more than 6 penalty point
- A minimum of 2 years driving experience since first holding a full UK Licence
- Must be available for last-minute shifts and bookings to cover sickness ect
- Be physically fit, as you will required to move patients
Desirable
- Full UK manual licence with C1, D & E categories
- FREC (First Response Emergency Care) 3 or 4
- A minimum of one year experience working on patient transport services.
- Previous driving experience of vans, ambulances or larger vehicles
- Current First Aid qualification

Salary: £11.50-£13.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
Reliance Ambulance Service has a Covid Tier System which is in place and based on National Guidance. This Tier system is reviewed weekly and measures are put in place to mitigate risk.
