• Facilitate Group Coaching Calls

Prepare feedback on submissions of course members’ writing and provide feedback during live sessions with course members.

• Member Support in Our Online Community

Answer questions and review writing for members on our community platform.

• Help Develop Course Content and Experience

Assist in developing the course material and member experience of the program in one-off projects.

Who are we?

The Researchers’ Writing Academy is an online program for researchers in the health, physical, life, social and earth sciences helping them to get published in high-ranking journals without lacking structure in the writing process. We are a small and growing company founded by Anna Clemens, PhD, who is an Academic Writing Coach with a background in Chemistry.

We are passionate about our mission to make academia a more diverse and joyful place by helping researchers succeed in their academic careers, no matter their background!

We value deep work and working with systems and processes. We prioritise our physical and mental health over working long hours and weekends. As a team, we strive to continually develop personally and professionally and value self-relection, initiative and direct communication. While we have ambitious goals, we are not afraid to make mistakes (they are an opportunity to grow!). We work in a solution- and data-oriented way instead of being drama-driven.

Is this a yes?!

✅ You have a PhD in the health, physical, life, social or earth sciences

✅ You are an excellent writer in English with academic publishing experience

✅ You have 2+ years experience working with academics as a developmental editor and you have great reviews/references

✅ Ideally: You have previous experience with coaching and consulting

✅ You have experiences working in different scientific disciplines and are able to grasp new topics quickly

✅ You are detail-oriented and enjoy the puzzle of teasing out the story of a paper

✅ You have excellent verbal and written communication skills

✅ You have experience leading video calls, events or meetings

✅ You are eager to continue to develop personally and professionally

✅ You have excellent time and project-management skills. We don’t micromanage!

✅ You are available to work 7 hours per month (with room to grow in the future)

✅ You can work remotely as an independent contractor

✅ You have a fast and reliable internet connection

✅ You are committed to the mission of our company to make academia a more diverse and joyful place by teaching researchers effective writing and publishing skills that help them succeed in their careers
