Position Overview & Specifications

Imagine being part of an organisation whose common purpose is to help those who are severely impacted by mental illness. We believe that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity – and that’s why equity is one of our core values. We draw on the expertise, unique perspectives and lived experience of our people – regardless of who they are or their background – to help us become inclusive and anti-racist employer, campaigning organisation and service provider that reflect the diverse communities we support as a mental health charity.

We have an exciting opportunity for a People Assistant to join our established and friendly People and OD team

As the first point of contact for all HR related queries that come into the People team (via phone and email) you will provide customer focused employee relations advice and guidance to our managers and employees along with handling any associated administration. You will manage case work, attending meetings where required and escalating cases to the People Partners when needed.

Reporting to the People Support Manager, you will be responsible for the co-ordination and administration of occupational health referrals and successful TUPE transfers (in and out). You will ensure that DBS and ‘right to work’ renewals are kept up to date and probation reviews are completed and recorded. In addition, you will support with ensuring HR policies and procedures are accurate, up to date and visible for our employees.

You will hold your Level 3 CIPD qualification and be passionate about HR and providing sound HR advice. With your administrative experience, you will have excellent attention to detail and be able to manage a range of different prioritises. You will have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to adapt your approach to meet the needs of the customer. Ideally, we’d like you to have some experience co-coordinating the TUPE process.

Your role will be a homebased position; however, we’d like you to come to attend our monthly HR team meeting usually held in Birmingham. You will work full time, 35 hours per week on a permanent contract with a salary of £22,407.40 to £25,690.03 per annum (£25,053.50 to £28,336.13 with London weighting). You can read more about the rewards you will receive on the full advert on our website.

Caring for our people.

We offer a wide range of support. Some of our benefits include:

  • PULSE – your rewards, wellbeing, and benefits platform. Providing access to thousands of discounts and benefits including cashback; reloadable cards; savings etc.
  • Wellbeing support: Our Wellbeing hub that gives physical, and mental health support. We also have an Employee Assistance Programme with access to appointments
  • Taking time for you: we work flexibly –you get to choose where you work, managing your own diary. We have generous annual leave, starting at 25 rising to 30 days, plus bank holidays, as well as your birthday off.
  • Planning for the future: We have a contributory pension scheme.
  • Structured Induction: Onboarding you into the Charity supporting your wellbeing along the way.
  • £300 when you introduce a Friend: receive up to £300 when you introduce a friend or family member

Don’t meet all requirements?

Diversity is important to us and we appreciate difference through inclusiveness. It gives us a deeper understanding of the world and the needs of the people we’re working with. By including everyone our organisation is a better place and we can provide better services. We draw on the experiences and expertise of our people to help shape and enrich our practices and services. If the role sounds exciting to you but your experience, skills or qualifications don’t exactly match every single requirement, we would still encourage you to apply, you may be just the right person for our position!

We welcome applications from everyone, applicants with lived experience, those who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning+ (LGBTQ+), people with a disability, or those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds are actively encouraged to apply.
