Position Overview & Specifications

RootExtracts are looking for a QA Laboratory Assistant to join their Protein site team. Full training will be given to the right person, you are expected to have familiarity with the laboratory environment and experience of running biochemical tests. You will be supporting the QA day-to-day testing of the new Protein extraction process, working alongside with the Technical manager to deliver the results in a prompt and professional manner.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Collecting, testing, labelling, and processing samples using appropriate equipment
  • Conducting and reporting test results to the line manager
  • Recording observations and findings in conformity to standard testing procedures
  • Perform analysis within the timescales required and ensure that result availability is in line with the method and client expectations.
  • Recording test results and experimental data accurately in electronic or written format
  • Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment according to environmental and health standards
  • Arranging and storing compressed gases, chemical substances and fluids according to the safety instructions
  • Support and conduct routine equipment maintenance when instructed
  • Prepare and ship samples for external analysis when required
  • Compliance with all site quality management systems and health & safety requirements
  • Immediate notification of potential issues to the relevant person.

The successful candidate will require the following attributes:

  • Working knowledge of electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety guidelines to work with dangerous substances like flammable materials and biohazards
  • The ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
  • High levels of worth ethics
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full driving license or working towards
  • Flexibility to adjust to an evolving environment
  • Exceptional planning and organisational skills with meticulous eye for detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, data collection, reporting, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of maintaining high standards of health & safety

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £21,000.00-£22,000.00 per year
