Everyone has a GP and now they are busier than ever! Today, GPs and their teams across the UK will see over 1 million patients.

Now the Royal College of GPs is looking for a creative and talented Social Media Officer to promote the work we do to support our 54,000 members and their patients.

We are the UK’s largest membership organisation for GPs in the UK - and this is a newly created role reflecting the growing importance of a vibrant social media presence to our work. It’s an exciting opportunity to work in our small social media team to develop innovative ways of engaging with our GP members, politicians, media and the public across all social media platforms.

In this role, you will help with the creation of social-first content across all existing channels – and identify new and emerging platforms – to create a consistent narrative that appeals to a wide range of audiences. You will be working alongside our Social Media and Communities Manager and other Social Media Officer.

You will advise the UK’s top GPs on maximising the potential of social media across all platforms to promote important College work, highlighting risks and developing damage limitation strategies. You will play an important role in the transition of College social media activity from information-giving to conversational.

We are looking for an experienced professional with a demonstrable track record in helping to implement and evaluate social media strategies - and managing crisis communications via social media. You will have expert knowledge of content and social technology across all channels and be adept at using quantitative and qualitative user research techniques to understand audience needs before delivering attention-grabbing content.

If you’re already a social media expert looking for a role that will take you to the next level of your career, and that offers lots of variety in a fast-moving environment where you will quickly be able to make your mark, then this is the role for you.

Please apply directly via the RCGP website by uploading your CV and cover letter: https://www.rcgp.org.uk/about/work-for-us/vacancies
