In the summer of 2019 we opened the doors to the new Therapies and RNHRD (Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases) department which is home to state of the art equipment, gym and hydrotherapy pool. This will be a very exciting time and aims to improve patient experience and integration of therapies.

The therapies department is forward thinking with new projects and has monthly CPD (continuing professional development) sessions for the whole of therapies. Each rotation has its own in-service training sessions and competencies. We also have a newly developed MDT preceptorship programme to ensure newly registered staff have increased support within their first year of joining.

This is a rotational post designed initially to give a broad level of experience in a number of the following clinical areas including: outpatients, rheumatology, medical, ITU, hands outpatients, community, surgical, elderly care, stroke, Hospital at Home, orthopaedics, paediatrics, ward therapy, rehabilitation

To perform high standards of physiotherapeutic assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients who may have diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.

To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working with supervision where required. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case conferences.

This post is suitable for newly qualified physiotherapists, students who are due to qualify or therapists with some experience who would like to develop further in the above areas or gain experience in an acute setting.

Participation in emergency on-call and weekend rotas will be a component of the role along with some rotations having varying work patterns.
