We are looking to appoint a Waking Night Residential Support Worker to work closely with young adults, as part of a team that provides consistent support to a number of residents with learning difficulties across our residential provisions in Darlington.

Our Residential Support Workers support the residents in a home life setting, promoting independence skills, with our Waking Night Support Worker offering reassurance and comfort as required with nighttime routines, and settling to bed, along with providing any support throughout the night as necessary. This role may be required to provide personal care and will work alongside adults with challenging behaviours.

There will be some general household tasks and cleaning duties, however this is a Support role and not simply cleaning.

This role is for waking nights and weekend working is an essential part of the role.

Prospective candidates should be able to demonstrate;

  • A patient, caring, compassionate and young adults centred approach.
  • Emotional intelligence and resilience with the ability to react calmly in challenging situations.
  • Experience of working as a support worker with young adults with challenging behaviours.
  • Experience of waking nights.
  • Excellent observational and communication skills and the ability to problem-solve and think creatively to enable our young people to reach their full potential.

Working at Clervaux is incredibly rewarding and in return, we offer competitive salaries, with progression in pay once qualified and a private pension scheme. In addition, staff receive;

  • A comprehensive and interactive induction, extensive training and development plan to include Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE), CPI Safety Intervention training and much more.
  • 33 - 38 days annual leave (including bank holidays) increasing with your length of service with us.
  • Free lunches, evening meals in the home.

The post is subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for both Adults and Children, a medical check, evidence of qualifications, plus verification of the right to work in the UK. Clervaux Garden School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We recommend applying earlier as we review applications as they are received and therefore will close the vacancy if filled before the advertised closing date.
