Apprentice Health Care Assistant

Training towards this Healthcare Support Worker level 3 qualification will be provided in house by the Apprenticeship team, with allowed time for the off the job training. The apprenticeship will generally take up to 21 months to complete, including end point assessment.DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS POSITION IF YOU ALREADY HOLD THIS QUALIFICATION OR EQUIVALENT

Entry requirements: Apprentices will need to achieve English and Maths Level 2 prior to completion of their Apprenticeship.

During the apprenticeship training programme you will work towards achieving the requirements of the personal specification. On completion of the apprenticeship programme and meeting the necessary work standard, this role will move to an NHS Agenda for Change Band 3

Working under the supervision of trained nurses; you will be involved in a variety of care delivery including the below:

Immunisations.

ECG's

Basic dressings.

Blood pressure management.

Physical health checks.

Stock, fridge audits and infection control.

Advising re diet and lifestyle in relation to chronic disease.

Assistance with minor surgery.

Phlebotomy for house bound patients.

Task management for wider team and organisation.

Offering services over 6 outlets across Sandwell, the successful applicants will become part of a nursing team based at one of the outlets.

Flexibility is required to ensure service delivery for patients and movement around sites is an essential part in protecting this.
