WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Join our community.

As a Financial Crime Intelligence Unit and Sanctions Associate, you will act as a key member of the SLB Financial Crime Compliance Team’s FIU and Sanctions function within Line 2, helping to identify and manage a broad range of financial crime risks.

You will perform analysis of internally escalated suspicious activity reports, assess emerging Financial Crime typologies, and review sanctions risks identified through screening and client diligence processes.

We are seeking a proven investigator of suspicious activity escalations with experience of SAR filing, and experience of drafting and presenting thematic reports to various stakeholders with some experience and understanding of sanctions risks that CIB clients might introduce.

This role resides within Santander London Branch (Non-Ring-Fenced branch of Santander Corporate Investment Bank in the UK SCIB).

The difference you’ll make.

  • Receiving, investigating, and assessing internal suspicious activity escalations from within the Bank
  • Drafting investigation reports and, where necessary, suspicious activity reports for presentation to the MLRO
  • Assisting with the threat mitigation and awareness program by proactively identifying and detecting emerging financial crime risks, including the drafting and presentation of thematic reviews to FCC and Business stakeholders
  • Assessing confirmed sanctions risk events, as well as clients’ sanctions exposure in line with the Bank’s risk tolerance
  • Engaging with UK Law Enforcement and other relevant industry and / or regulatory initiatives

What you’ll bring.

  • Significant investigations experience must be able to write comprehensive reports based on the outcome of financial crime risk events and thematic reviews, and present to various audiences.
  • Experience of managing both transactional and client level escalations and assessments in relation to sanctions,

It would also be nice for you to have.

  • External qualification in Financial Crime (e.g., from ACAMS or ICA)
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience of using systems and software to analyse data
  • Knowledge of Financial Crime risks within Corporate and Institutional Banking products (Markets, Trade Finance etc.)

This is a full-time permanent position based in Triton Square London with flexibility for some home working.
