Position Overview & Specifications

Siemens Healthineers Magnet Technology is a world leading designer and manufacturer of superconducting magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) magnets for medical applications. We are looking for ambitious individuals to join our three year Level 3 Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme, commencing in August 2023 just outside Oxford.

As an Advanced Engineering Apprentice, you will join one of our Manufacturing Operations teams responsible for the production of our all-important superconducting magnets. During your three years you will gain experience across all production areas but will develop specialist skills and knowledge within one area. You will report to one of our Cell Leaders and your training will be supervised by a qualified assessor.

To give you an idea of how this Engineering Apprentice job will look and feel, here are some things you can expect to do:

  • In year 1 you will attend a local college as you work towards achieving your Level 3 Engineering Technician qualification. We will familiarise you with our site and operations prior to starting at college.
  • In years 2 & 3, you will spend more time working on site to gain essential manufacturing experience with day release to college

Depending on business requirements and the performance of the individual, there are opportunities to progress to Level 3 Extended Diploma qualification and beyond, including Higher Education.

To apply, you should have or be working towards four GCSEs at Grade 5 (C) or above, which must include Maths, English Language and Science.

  • Ideally you will also be studying towards the higher-level Maths GCSE, desirably obtaining a B or higher.
  • You must be keen and have an inquiring mind and be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm for your work and our business
  • You will possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills to enable you to work within a team focused environment
  • You must be able to produce accurate work that is to strict specifications. An interest in ‘making things’ is essential.

In return for your knowledge and expertise, you will receive a favourable apprenticeship salary and benefits package.
