GENERAL LITIGATION AND PERSONAL INJURY SOLICITOR


Role Overview

This is the perfect opportunity for a solicitor with experience in both general litigation and personal injury to takeover an established department with a varied caseload of general litigation and personal injury matters at an established Manchester based law firm. You will lead and handle your own caseload and assist others too.

To be considered you must be a qualified solicitor already specialising in general litigation work and have experience in dealing with a varied case load of personal injury cases. The position is based at our North Manchester offices.


The role would involve handling a diverse caseload of general litigation matters and personal injury matters including:

  • Civil and commercial disputes, landlord & tenant, debt claims, contentious probate and boundary disputes, contract disputes
  • to handle a mixed caseload of pre and fully litigated EL/PL and RTA files, with both fast track and multi track.


Candidate Profile

The firm is seeking a general litigation and personal injury Solicitor who can demonstrate:

  • Previous knowledge gained in areas listed above.
  • Day to day handling of litigation matters
  • Conduct of matters professionally on behalf of clients
  • Participation in marketing activities (including networking)
  • Able to work as part of a close-knit team but be able to work independently
  • Good communication skills
  • Understand and comply with the Civil Procedure Rules and Practice Directions.
  • Run cases from inception right the way to trial
  • Ability to operate in different areas of practice and deal with competing priorities
  • Ability to manage all aspects of the litigation department
  • Be able bring cases to identify opportunities to help bring matters to an early resolution
  • Focus on delivering exceptional results for the client
  • Be able to work efficiently and diligently to deadlines and maintain a regular schedule of hearings, court appearances and conferences
  • Be able to draft all the usual documents involved in litigation, such as a particulars of claim, witness statements, costs schedules, applications, orders and consider part 36 offers
  • Assist the firm with aspects of its marketing and networking
  • To manage client billing effectively to ensure clients are regularly billed
  • Meet monthly targets
  • Must be self-motivated, driven and enjoys a complex and varied workload
  • Be able to quickly get to grips with new areas of law
  • Self-discipline to take responsibility of own work and deadlines and to progress cases quickly and efficiently
