Skilled Handyperson required in Addlestone (Surrey, KT15)

£12.19ph, 40hrs per week

Sisters Hospitallers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus are seeking a full time maintenance operative to work at our Residential Home in Addlestone, Surrey.

The ideal candidate will have a good overall knowledge and ability and able to carry out respective repairs in relation to the duties below which may vary and undertake general reactive building fabric / handyperson tasks, including (but not limited to):

  • Arranging desks/table/chairs for meetings/seminars
  • Door repairs and adjustment
  • Door / locker Lock replacement
  • Replacement of damaged light bulbs
  • Replacement of damaged carpet/floor tiles
  • Repair/replacement of damaged walls ceilings and floors
  • General carpentry works to doors / furniture etc.
  • Repairs to blinds etc.
  • Providing a reactive service to deal with issues both in hours and out of hours
  • Supporting the Charity to undertake and assist in overseeing any major works
  • Management of sub-contractors for service and project works
  • Maintaining Plant/Plant rooms to a high standard
  • Carry out Health & Safety checks
  • Supporting external audits representing our company
  • Decorating
  • General minor plumbing and electrical repairs
  • Fire alarm testing and recording

Skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good level of customer focus / customer service
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel etc.)
  • A responsive, 'can-do' attitude: - pro-active & self-motivated with energy and commitment
  • H&S Awareness
  • Accuracy, sound judgement and good prioritization skills
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines, (including outside normal office hours if required) and to have a flexible, service conscious approach
  • Be punctual and have a proven sickness and time-keeping record

Experience Required

The successful candidate will have previous building maintenance experience. This experience will ideally have been gained in an residential home environment, though candidates with strong commercial experience will also be considered (ie experience gained in commercial offices, hotels, education etc). Ideally you will hold a relevant trade qualification however this is not essential.

This is a full time permanent position. Normal working hours are 9am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. You will also participate in an on-call rota system.
