Role Overview & Responsibilities

Are you looking for a challenging administrative role in a friendly department? The Colorectal Surgery Department could be the place for you.

We have a permanent position for an Administrative Assistant at Musgrove Park Hospital for three days a week (working pattern to be confirmed).

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the patient journey, making appointments, liaising with the clinical and secretarial team and assisting the smooth running of the department.

We welcome applicants with excellent IT skills, a good typing speed and administrative experience. A basic knowledge of Excel is required as data entry is also part of this busy role.

  • Dealing with incoming/outgoing post
  • Updating and monitoring generic email inbox
  • Updating and monitoring various departmental spreadsheets
  • Receiving phone calls and taking messages on behalf of secretarial team
  • Scanning and uploading patient-related documents to electronic patient record
  • Requesting and tracking of medical notes
  • Stationary ordering
  • Basic audiotyping (if required)
  • Other admin duties as required
