Your new role

An opportunity has arisen for an Accounting Technician to join the Capital and Fixed Assets Finance team on a full-time permanent basis (37 hours). This post will be based within an established and friendly team and the contract is offered on hybrid working pattern (predominantly working from home, but with the option to work from the Civic Centre premises as required). You will support the Finance Manager in providing a full range of accountancy information and services for Council Directorates and Portfolio holders in accordance with departmental standards and timetables set. You will undertake the closing of capital accounts at the year-end and assist the Finance Manager in the preparation and publication of the final accounts including producing working papers in readiness for the external audit. You will apply proper working practices regarding confidentiality.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience of working within a busy Finance / Accounting team, or have transferrable skills from a similar environment. Experience with the financial arrangements relating to services provided by local authorities would be advantageous, but not essential.

You will be able to demonstrate skills in relation to maintaining effective partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders and evidence collaborative working and supportive relationships with a wide variety of partners.

To be considered for this role you need to be AAT finalist / qualified or part qualified (at least two years) of one of the recognised main accountancy bodies (CCAB).
